SM:SHINee

SM’s main composer, Yoo Young Jin, composed their single “Replay”. Their feel is a mix between Big Bang and F.T. Island. The group name “SHINee” means “a person who receives a light”. L-R Onew, Jonghyun, Minho, Taemin, Key have an age rang of 14-18..

Debut Perf on Inkigayo
Their debut performance, which they sang live, was very impressive vocally. However, I have yet to see “the superb dancing skills” of one of the members. They seemed a bit nervous, undoubtly, but kept their cool during the whole performance. Their title track “Replay” is highly addictive and has many people putting it on repeat. Mr. SM, who is notorious for prepping groups, should be proud of his boys.
JYP : Hot Blood
JYP recruited 13 boys to form his own boy band. The members are filmed during this grueling elimination process for JYP to filter out the boys that he doesn’t feel have made the cut. However, I think JYP underestimated the power of netizen fans. Since they are filmed on camera in the trainee practices, I think at least every boy has a die-hard fan for them rooting for their debut together. JYP has integrated a lot of American Culture in his style of music which is a different from the other labels. This American Idol showdown seems too manufactured but marketing wise it is probably one of the best.

DSP : A’ST 1
The six-member group that was supposed to overthrow SuJu has probably been a surprise to everyone even if you’re not a fan. The group that was called Revolution in the beginning, has been dubbed A’ST 1, with a label of revolution of style; six guys that play music. I don’t know about you but I was really waiting for them to overthrow SuJu. Their preview looked so dominant and fierce that I thought there was gonna be a clash of boy bands. Alas, my heart had stopped when nothing had happened. You have to admit you were waiting for it too. Anyways, this international group has one boy that is half Japanese half Korean and a full Chinese dude also! Needless to say, DSP is pushing hard not to be left out of the boy band era.

Good Ent: Battle
Battle, the six member group that was hand picked by Shinhwa members, had let a mark since going through the American Idol auditions. The group was actively in Korea promoting their 2 singles before heading to other parts of Asia riding the Hallyu wave. Now the members are back minus one tall member, KiHyun, to finally release a full length album. With this group’s success overseas, they hope to come back harder then ever.

Yeah, Shiny is like something in between BB and FT Island. And lo, their names, don’t you think they have resemblance to FT Island’s members?

LOL. Im glad someone laughed at my SHINee joke. I think the one in the middle could pass as HeeChul’s little bro just for that pic. But yea, I think they resemble FT Island because they’re so freakishly young.

I think only ShiNee will survive in the business. They are many sucessful boybands/malebands to cover almost all ranges of fans already. The successful one, DBSK, Epic High, SG wannabe, BigBang, SuJu and SS501 are still on top and unlikely to go down. The hype of FT Island when first debuted is so good, but they still can’t conquer many fans. FT Islands and Shinee will gain more fans and survive anyway.
